Mystery Revealed

Peugeot 3008 Studio
I can now reveal the car and shoot I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. It was a new Peugeot 3008, a medium size crossover vehicle. I was very impressed with the interior, it had a stack of great features, good design and an amazing sunroof which was almost as long as the car itself.

I also mentioned there was a unique aspect to the shoot. It was shot to be a Photosynth, Microsoft’s new image manipulation tool that combines images to create a 3D style environment. It’s a pretty cool effect. This just went live on NineMSN’s Motoring website, so please have a play here:

model Janine issue 85
I first met Janine a while ago while working for Auto Salon, little did I know that she was to be the cover model for the final issue of Auto Salon Magazine.

For me, it was quite a surprise to find out that she had never completed a model shoot, so working with a first time model always brings a few challenges.

Luckily Janine’s natural Eurasian beauty came through, and she was easy to photograph. Even in my new fad of shooting ala Terry Richardson:

I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll see of her.

Lotus Workshop Simply Sports cars

I like visiting new workshops for the first time. Each one has a unique character, built up over the years. I particular enjoy workshops that are focused towards one brand, or even one model in a brand. I was recently asked to cover the build of a new tarmac rally/track car and the first port of call was Simply Sports Cars in Artarmon. SSC specialize in Lotus cars, namely Elise’s and Exige’s of various eras and builds. They perform servicing, modifications and builds on road and race cars, and their new shop is super cool. So many nice cars. The car I’m covering will have it’s own website, so expect a link when it goes live.

Flossin’ – Literally.

Dental Floss

Here’s a bit of a random post for you. So I went to the dentist for the first time in a while recently, I was lucky in that I didnt have any cavities, however the dentist mentioned that I should floss more often. I have been trying various flosses? to see which I like the best.

The above pic has them in my order of preference from right to left. The Oral-B one I didn’t like much, just your regular tape, a little too thick for my close teeth. The flavour isn’t particularly nice either. The Colgate one is OK, again nothing special. I actually preferred the previous Colgate version, which had their logo horizontal rather than vertical.

My two favourites are the Reach branded ones, the Total Care version is impregnated with a kind of tooth paste, which is pretty cool as it tastes OK. This floss is also more like a wool type, made up of many stands, very comfortable, however it does feel a little messy with a bit of the paste ending up on your fingers as you progress.
The champ for me is Reach’s Ultraclean, it lives up to its name. It’s similar to a tape but not as thick, and its surface is a new design that aims to trap more nasties. It seems to work, my teeth feel the cleanest after this model.

I had a pretty major shoot on recently, it involved shooting in a new and different way for me (no it wasn’t video), and the results should be online pretty soon.

car in studio

The first part of the shoot involved the car in a studio, and I used Dragon Image‘s new cyc with their massive lightbank softbox. I liked the results and the lightbank certainly made things easier in regards to positioning.

car hangar

The second component of the shoot involved a location and after scouting various styles of locations, I managed to find a great aircraft hangar at Bankstown Airport. The car was the only one in the country so far, and it impressed me in many ways. Stay tuned…

Yes, it has been a while. After World Time Attack, I had shoots for 4 days straight, and was hit with a nasty cold/flu that I still haven’t been able to shake. Grrr. So stay tuned for a couple of small updates….Brought to you by Pseudoephedrine….
