The King is dead

June 27th, 2009 by admin

I can’t say I was a massive MJ fan (compared to people around me), but I did have a few of his albums, went to a concert, and always liked all of his music. This image is one of my strongest memories of MJ, it was a poster my sister had of him.

I initially wasn’t that saddened to hear about his death , I even thought to myself that his suffering is now over, but I was really taken back by the words of Deepak Chopra. Have a read.

The aftermath

Finally returned home after 3 days in Melbourne, and it was a trip I won’t be forgetting in a hurry. Friday morning I decided to pop down to Elizabeth St and pick up something that I have been lusting after since its release, and holding off purchasing it for as long as I could. A new camera; the Canon 5D mark II. Two things spurred me on to purchase it, a small win at Crown Casino the night before, and the subject of Friday’s shoot; 5 exotic Italian super cars. I can’t show any pics until they are published in a future issue of Auto Salon Magazine, however, after the shoot was done, I did get to drive one back to the dealership. That experience did overshadow the camera. By a factor of 10 million.

My good friend Steve came along to help with driving the camera car and take a few photos himself, here is one of me twittering at the HQ with my cameras either side.

MEL

Just landed in Melbourne again, I actually haven’t been here all that many times this year, if you count about 6 trips not that many. I usually enjoy my time here, but am always glad to come back home to Sydney. Here are a couple of N95 pics as I’m saving the SLR shots for another time and another place, i.e. Auto Salon Magazine.

Our longer than usual flight took us over the Snowy Mountains, which have had some major falls in recent days.

Our first stop was a major company located in the outer suburbs, and we stopped for lunch at nearby Springvale. Being a major Vietnamese community, the dish of choice was Pho. Rare beef and delicious.

Our beds for the night are at the Victoria Hotel. It’s rather historic and not in a particularly nice way. Looks like we will be spending a lot of time outside of the rooms.

More tomorrow.

Extra Smart

Smart drinks and healthy waters have exploded onto the Australian market in recent times, it seems that every month sees a new brand or new product come out, with some being better than others. I don’t mind the Spring Valley products, the Blueberry energy drink is a nice alternative to the Vs and RBs. I picked up these two one tired day at the office, and I should have taken one of those Facebook IQ test’s just to see if they lived up to their promise.
